8am start and off to Lake Manyarna, really our first safari. Apart from baboons elephant’s were first to appear followed by giraffe. Soon a pond with Hippo.
As we got to the edger of the lake Flamingo's. Animals we have seen before but they look so different in the wild.
And of course how could I forget we saw a Dik Dik. You will have to google that one!
After lunch we head to the Serengeti.
This is where we get our free 4 hour African massage. And what a rough dirt road the 4 hours was over. Initially up the side to the rim of the Ngorongoro crater and along its rim. Very lush jungle (the rainy side) then drop down into dry plains. Only a few Ostrich and local farm cows for first hour. Then the gates to the Serengeti.
Wide flat lush plains then out of the blue we were surrounded by Wildebeest and Zebra. The migration has started and these two have arrived, thousands of them.
About an hour from hotel our guide asked if he could take a side road to lion rock, sure enough we got our first sightings of 3 female lions.
It made our day, arrived at hotel about 6pm, time for a shower and meal as 4:15 start tomorrow. Great hotel overlooking the Serengeti, it doesn't get better than this.
